Ixitxachitl's Stream Tools

Snowfall

Let it snow on your stream! Flakes drift down over everything, wind gusts swirl them around, and the snow piles up along the bottom. When a drift gets deep enough a snowman builds itself, waves at chat for a while, then melts into a puddle.

Live demo

This is the real overlay, live. Give it a minute or two: the snow needs to pile up before the first snowmen appear.

Setup guide

Get it on stream

  1. Add a Browser source In OBS click + under Sources → Browser. Paste https://snow.ixitxachitl.com/ as the URL.
  2. Make it full screen Set Width and Height to your canvas size, like 1920 × 1080. The snow fills the whole source and piles up along its bottom edge.
  3. Put it on top Drag the source to the top of your scene's list so the snow falls in front of your game and camera. The background is already transparent.
  4. Enjoy the weather That's it. There's nothing to log in to and no settings panel. Change the speed with a setup link if you like.

What you'll see

  • The snow comes and goes, from light flurries to heavy snowfall.
  • Every so often a wind gust swirls a patch of flakes around.
  • Snow builds up along the bottom into a bumpy drift.
  • Deep drifts turn into snowmen with top hats, carrot noses and stick arms. They bounce and wave, then melt away after a while.

Tips

  • Want the drift somewhere other than the bottom of the screen? Make the source shorter and move it. The snow always piles at the source's bottom edge.
  • To start fresh with no snow on the ground, open the source's properties and press Refresh cache of current page.
